  • € 451 mill. annual budget, of which € 139 mill. is external funding (approx. 1/3 comes from industry)

The RWTH as an application-orientated place of training :


 
  • 30.000 students, 4.000 of whom are foreigner from 100 nations
  • 9 faculties, 65 courses of study, continuation and supplementary courses of study, 1 graduate college, studies for the elderly
  • 4.000 graduates every year
  • 9.000 members of staff, 1.800 persons undergoing practical training and trainees, thereby the largest employer in the region

 

The RWTH as an international innovation centre :


 
  • Cooperation agreements with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Aachen as well as the Chamber of Handicrafts in Aachen
  • Cooperation with the Aachen Society for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AGIT) and companies concerned with promoting the economy in the border area
  • 13 allied research institutes, which focus on areas ranging from biomedical technology to water-technology
  • 57 spin-off companies established in the Aachen Technology Centre, 80% of which emanating from the University with the creation of over 2.000 new jobs (since 1984)
  • 200 seminars and colloquia held annally in respect of vocational further training
  • Regional industrial clubs
  • 40 cooperation treaties with R&D-establishments around the world
