Abstract
This paper deals with a framework of Congestion Control and Scheduling for Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning to different types of connections developed within VIRTUOUS project of the Information Society Technologies (IST). In the following we outline a possible approach for guarantying a certain QoS degree and we discuss some of the trade-offs it involves. The paper starts by introducing the project, the main goals and a possible architecture, underlining the principal entities that have to be foreseen. Then we highlight our solution observing that the aim is to give the reader a perspective on the range of available options and the associated trade-offs between performance, functionality and complexity.
