Abstract With the exponential growth of the Internet, the demand for end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees has gained significant importance. Internet of the future will be characterized by applications right from voice, video to normal data. To provide a seamless integration of these applications into the Internet, we need to provide the right kind of QoS support at all types of environment. This paper evaluates on all the factors that govern Internet QoS. Highlighting all-important factors will then derive a unified approach when looking into the issue of QoS management in the Internet. The paper also reports on the ongoing work related to QoS in the Internet and discusses future directions.
