Abstract
This paper concentrates on the simulative evaluation of mutual interference of mobile communication systems operating in adjacent frequency bands. Two simulation methods are considered: a Monte Carlo and an event driven simulation technique. The definition of the spectral compatibility relies on the ratio between the received signal and the interferences originating in the adjacent system. The resulting $C/I$ can be regarded as a random variable and calculated with the MC method. The event driven method is used to take into account the correlations between the values determining the $C/I$. It is shown that the choice of a simulation method can strongly influence the distribution of the coupling loss between the interfering and the perturbed stations. As an example the Monte Carlo method is used to investigate the mutual interference of UTRA TDD and FDD systems.
