Abstract The IST FUTURE project aims at adopting recent advances in the Internet arena by exploring applicability of native internet protocols (in accordance with IETF multimedia data and control architecture) in a terrestrial and satellite UMTS integrated system. This achievement will be demonstrated with two kinds of experiments, SIP based IP multimedia services and QoS provision in S-UMTS.This paper describes the FUTURE demonstrator architecture, drawing particular attention to the foreseen experiments. For each one of them, a general description of its architecture is presented, which is followed by the progression of the experiment.
